We were first contracted for design and engineering for 222 Dexter. Due to its complexity, this building fell outside of our free design assistance service. Through the General Contractor, we worked with the Owner's Representative, Architect, and Engineer to develop a design and proposal that met each of their needs.
The tower's constantly changing form is not static; it required a dynamic approach to suspended access, especially with respect to the design of the façade stabilization. The suspended access system we designed required movement with the building's undulating cladding, utilizing custom-designed intermittent stabilization anchors for pulling in and stand-off to protect the protruding edges.
This unique, thorough drop study required a special engineering team to analyze and develop a system that would provide access primarily for rope access and satisfy a potential future need to rig a suspended platform. The design includes davit bases and tieback anchors. The davit arms clear the glass railings.
