- During reroofing or renovation work
- At intervals not exceeding 10 years

The building owner’s best protection is maintaining documentation that demonstrates compliance with applicable codes and standards.
Some roof anchors also require periodic load testing and recertification.
Typical recertification intervals include:
- Adhesive anchors - every 5 years
- Non-adhesive anchors - every 10 years
However, manufacturer guidelines may change these timelines.
If your system is due for recertification, load testing may be required.
OSHA’s fall protection inspection requirements
According to ANSI/IWCA standards:
"Building Owners and/or their operating agents shall provide window cleaning contractors with written assurance that the installation of the structure has been inspected, tested, and maintained in accordance with the requirements of the I-14.1 Standard."
This standard places significant emphasis on annual inspections and proper documentation.
All permanent fall protection and suspended access systems must be inspected regularly to remain compliant with authorities such as:
- OSHA
- Cal/OSHA
- CCOHS
Additional inspections may also be required after major alterations or renovations.
