Designed by 360 Architecture (now acquired by HOK), the Mercedes-Benz stadium is an architectural icon in Atlanta. The unique geometric design and retractable roof combine to create a one of a kind experience event experience. The roof is made of 220-foot-long petals that retract in unison much the way a camera shutter does. The rest of the façade is made of insulated metal panels; the transparent section on the west side boasts stunning views of the Atlanta skyline.
Pro-Bel Technical Solution
This extraordinary building predominantly consists of weld-to-structure safety roof and wall anchors to provide access to the entire façade using direct rigging for a rope descent system (RDS) to access the puzzling façade. The layout of the anchors for this architectural masterpiece are specifically designed to fit with the geometric panels that follow the contouring lines of the stunning stadium. Vertical rigging sleeves supplement the anchor system in certain hard to reach areas. Each of the (8) eight 220ft long retractable roof petals are custom fitted with a horizontal lifeline system for fall protection.
